Swim lessons in Byron Bay and Mullumbimby, small groups and one-to-one, taught by Simon, at a pace that suits your kid.
WHO IS IT FOR
Especially good for the kids who find it hard
Some children take to the water straight away. Plenty don't.
If your child is nervous, or has had a bad experience, or has been in lessons for terms without much changing — that's who we built this for. We don't push kids through a progression. We start with where they actually are and build from there.
“Our 6 and 8-year-olds absolutely love swimming lessons thanks to Simon! He has an incredible ability to mix fun with real skill-building. His creative games keep the kids completely engaged and eager to learn every single week. Whether they are in the pool or navigating the surf, Simon has given our children a massive boost in confidence and water safety. We cannot recommend him highly enough!”

Every child learns differently.
Some thrive in a group environment, while others need more time, support, and individual attention to feel safe in the water.
Our lessons are designed to meet children where they are — building confidence first, so skill and progression can follow naturally.
Private Lessons
One-on-one sessions with Simon, tailored entirely to your child's pace, confidence level, and comfort in the water.
Private lessons are delivered using the Flow State Aquatic Method™ — an anxiety-informed approach that prioritises emotional readiness before skill progression. Sessions feel calm and play-based, not performance-focused.
NDIS-supported sessions available. We work with both plan-managed and self-managed participants. Enquire at hello@flowstateswim.co for rates and availability.
What to expect:
A calm, unhurried environment with Simon's full attention. Progression at your child's pace — no rushing to the next milestone. Practical water safety skills are built into every session. A child who leaves feeling capable, not corrected.
Small Group Lessons
Small group sessions run at a low ratio — a maximum of 4 children per session — so every child still receives individual attention within a social learning environment.
Groups are formed based on emotional readiness and water confidence, not age or ability alone. This means your child is always in a group that feels right for where they actually are.
NDIS-supported sessions available. We work with both plan-managed and self-managed participants. Enquire at hello@flowstateswim.co for rates and availability.
What to expect:
Low-ratio groups (maximum 4 children) with Simon
Groupings based on confidence and readiness, not just age
A social environment that supports, rather than overwhelms
Shared progress and peer encouragementOur lessons don't look like traditional swim lessons — and that's deliberate.
More play, less pressure, and progress measured by confidence first. If you're wondering what to expect (or why it works), we've written it all down.
A confidence-first approach
Our lessons are built on the Flow State Aquatic Method™ — an anxiety-informed, emotionally led framework developed by Simon Jones over twenty years of coaching in Byron Bay.
We don't use pressure, comparison, or milestone-chasing to drive progress. We use safety, attunement, and patience. When children feel genuinely calm and supported, they move forward in ways that last. Our lessons are a good fit for
Children who are nervous, anxious, or hesitant around water
Children who haven't thrived in larger swim school environments
Beginners building their first relationship with the water
Children with sensory sensitivities or additional learning needs
Families who want a calm, unhurried approach“His communication style is calm, confident and fun. He meets every child at their level and draws out the best in them.”
– Flow State Parent, Mullumbimby
Ready to get started?
A first session with Simon — sometimes one-to-one, sometimes alongside other kids in a small group — so your child can come along, meet Simon, and see how they feel about it. It also gives Simon a chance to see where they're actually at.
From there, you'll know what a good fit looks like for your child going forward — not a guess.
